Patna bins changed in June 2026, along with Dalmellington, Bellsbank, Littlemill, Rankinston, Drongan, Dalrymple and the south of Auchinleck — East Ayrshire Council moved them all onto its new service, with general waste on a four-weekly cycle.

The rest of East Ayrshire follows
Patna, Dalmellington and Drongan were in the second phase. Kilmarnock and the north of East Ayrshire start from October 2026 — so the four-weekly general waste collection is becoming the norm right across the council area.
The switch also changed the recycling. The old trolley was replaced by three separate wheelie bins, each emptied on the same four-weekly cycle, with food waste kept weekly. That’s eight collections every four weeks in total — but still only one for general waste. If your bin is full before its day comes round, a one-off empty in between keeps the lid closed and the bin collectable on its next visit.
