The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October. After that it’s dark before most people get home — so if you want to clear the garage, now is the time, before it slides to “spring”. Again.
Why now
- The car goes back in. Winter mornings are easier without scraping the windscreen.
- The garden’s finished — the mower, the chairs and the pots all need somewhere to go.
- Daylight makes sorting quicker than a torch and an extension lead.
One photo, one price, one visit

- Usually cleared the next day, seven days a week.
- We do the lifting — household junk, furniture, white goods, the lot.

A weekend plan
- Saturday morning: sort into keep, give away and gone.
- Saturday afternoon: send us the photo of the “gone” pile.
- Usually next day: we load it and take it away.
Why winter makes it harder
Once the evenings are dark, the garage clear-out competes with everything else. Cold hands, short days and wet weekends push it back — and the car stays on the drive all winter. Doing it before the clocks change takes one weekend.
Send us the photo on Saturday and it’s usually gone the next day.
Winter also brings its own reasons to have the garage clear: somewhere dry for the garden furniture, room to get the car in on frosty mornings, and space to store the Christmas deliveries that arrive in November. A clear garage in October is a much easier winter. If the garage has become the overflow for the house, winter is also when you’ll want it most — for bikes, tools, the Christmas tree stand and the boxes that come with the season. Clearing it now gives all of that a home. A garage you can walk into in January is worth one weekend in October.
