Most garages don’t fill up in a weekend, and a garage clear-out rarely happens in one either. It’s years of “we’ll keep that for now” — the old bike, the paint tins, the flat-pack that never went back together, the fridge from the last kitchen. And then one day the car doesn’t fit.
What a DIY clear-out really involves
- Sorting: what stays, what goes to family, what goes to charity, what’s rubbish.
- The tip: in East Ayrshire you need a Residents’ Recycling Permit and a booked slot to get into a recycling centre — every visit.
- Car-loads: a full single garage is rarely one trip. Bulky items won’t fit in a car at all.
- The lifting: white goods, old furniture and boxes of who-knows-what, carried out by you.

The one-visit way
Do the sorting — keep what you want, set aside anything for family or charity — and leave the rest to us. One booking, one lorry, and the garage is empty.
- We do the lifting — you point, we carry.
- Household junk, furniture, white goods, garden stuff — the lot.
- Usually next day, seven days a week, anywhere in Ayrshire.
- Disposed of legally — Johns Waste Management is SEPA registered.
Loft and shed while we’re there
If the garage is full, the loft and the shed usually are too. Put them in the same photo quote and it’s one job, one price. More on our garage and shed clearances.
Before we arrive
- Set aside what you’re keeping — or just point on the day.
- Clear a path from the garage door to the drive.
- Tell us about anything heavy — white goods, a workbench, an old freezer.
Why it’s never one trip
A single garage holds far more than it looks. Once the bikes, boxes, garden furniture and old appliances come out onto the drive, most people are surprised how big the pile is — and how many car-loads it would take.
That’s where one lorry and two pairs of hands save a whole weekend.
