Bins Every Four Weeks

East Ayrshire Council’s new bin service rolls out across Kilmarnock and the surrounding area from October 2026, and the council expects to finish by spring 2027. Once your new bins arrive, your general waste bin is emptied once every four weeks; food waste stays weekly. Until then, nothing changes.

No side waste: the council will not lift extra bags left beside your bin, and the lid must close fully or an overfilled bin may not be emptied. Bin full before collection day? John empties any wheelie bin for £20, usually next day. The new council collections, side by side with John →
