Garden clearance in Ayrshire. Overgrown? Cleared. Gone.
Overgrown gardens, hedge cuttings, turf, branches and bagged green waste — cleared, bagged and taken away as one job. No £47.50-a-year permit, no four-weekly brown bin, no waiting for February.

Garden got away from you? John clears it. Overgrown beds and borders are cut back and bagged, then the hedge and tree cuttings, branches, turf, bagged soil, old fence panels and decking are lifted and taken away together. That’s garden clearance and garden waste removal in one booking, with nothing left at the kerb for you to deal with. John runs Johns Waste Management out of Stewarton, covers every corner of Ayrshire, and is a SEPA-registered waste carrier. Price it from a photo or text one to 07385 260093 and a straight price comes back, or John comes out and quotes free on sight.

What John takes from a garden
Everything green and most things wooden:
- grass, hedge and tree cuttings, branches, leaves and weeds
- turf and bagged soil
- old decking and fence panels
- plant pots and broken garden furniture
If the garden needs cutting back before it can be lifted, he does that too. Everything goes through licensed, traceable disposal. If the garage or the house needs emptying as well, that’s a house clearance, priced from photos the same way.
What he won’t take, and what’s priced on its own
Hazardous waste stays off the van: asbestos (it turns up in some old shed and garage roofs), chemicals and gas bottles.
Soil, turf, rubble and hardcore are welcome, but they’re heavy, so they’re priced on their own. Say roughly how much when you send the photo.
How much is a brown bin permit in Ayrshire, and what does it cover?
East Ayrshire charges £47.50 a year per bin, for four-weekly collections from February to November. South Ayrshire charges £50 per bin for twelve months, with brown bins emptied every four weeks. They aren’t routinely emptied in December, January or February, though you can book one winter collection a month.
The permit covers the brown bin and what the council allows in it: grass, hedge trimmings, leaves, weeds and small branches. East Ayrshire accepts nothing beyond its list. South Ayrshire’s list of what can’t go in includes turf, rubble and large quantities of soil.
Bigger items go to the bulky uplift, and the councils differ:
- East Ayrshire’s bulky uplift won’t take garden sheds, fencing, trees or rubble.
- South Ayrshire’s bulky uplift takes garden waste that won’t fit the bin, but not rubble.
Then there’s the recycling centre:
- East Ayrshire lets residents deposit household material free of charge at its two recycling centres, Western Road and Garlaff, with a Residents’ Recycling Permit and a booked slot.
- South Ayrshire needs an e-permit and a booking before you go.
- North Ayrshire charges nothing but wants every visit booked: ten minutes for a car, twenty with a van or trailer.
For a boot-load of cuttings, that works fine. A whole garden is a lot of boot-loads, and that’s the job John takes on. If it’s only the brown bin that’s full, you can get your brown bin emptied for £20, no permit, any month of the year.
How to get ready
Nothing, if you’d rather not. If you want to help:
- Pile loose cuttings in one place near the gate and bag any soil.
- Tell John how wide the gate is and how close the van can park.
- Photograph the whole garden, not just the tidy corner. If the shed is going too, photograph its roof.
The price is built from those photos.
Done properly, or not at all.
Cheap “man with a van” outfits fly-tip — and it can come back on you when they trace it. Johns is a SEPA-registered carrier: everything we lift goes through licensed, traceable disposal.
